2- Stanchion disassembly FIG. 24
Fix the slider of the stanchion tube (5-6) into a vice equipped with protection
jaws. Insert the tool with part no. R5081AA into the damper rod to prevent the
body (30) from turning. Turn the tool to insert the two couplings in the body hex.
end and stop it by inserting a pin in the two opposite holes. Unscrew the foot
screw (47) with the 21-mm socket wrench. Remove the foot valve unit (41)
complete with OR (44).

Gently withdraw the damper unit (22) from the stanchion tube (5-6).
Unscrew and remove the check nut (23) and remove the spring guide (24)
from the damper rod.

In order reach the pumping element from the damper, the rebound bumper
parts must be removed first: keep firmly the upper bushing (26) with the 18-
mm Allen wrench and unscrew the lower bushing (29) with the 17-mm
wrench. Remove the upper bushing (26) and the floating bushing (28) of the
rebound buffer from the damper rod

Remove the stop ring (27) from the damper rod (32) with a small screwdriver.
Remove the stop ring (27) and the lower bushing (29) from the rod making
sure not to scratch it.

Push the rod (32) into the body (30) so that the complete pumping element
can be pulled out from the bottom.
3- Rebound setting change

Fix the milled side (wrench 17) of the damper rod (32) into a vice. Do not
overtighten. Unscrew the locking nut (38) of the pumping element for damping
during REBOUND with the 12-mm wrench. Remove all pumping element
parts and put them down in the disassembly order. Make sure the ring (35) of
the piston (36) is not worn out; replace it, if damaged. In order to change the
original setting, modify the set of washers (37). Reassemble all parts
following the reverse order. Pay particular attention to the piston position (36):
its slotted side must be opposite to the set of washers (37). An improper
piston position will cause troubles to the fork. Tighten the nut (38) as indicated.
4- Compression setting change

Fix the hex. side of the foot screw (47) in a vice. Do not overtighten.
Unscrew the locking nut (42) of the COMPRESSION damping unit with the 12-
mm wrench. Remove all parts and place them according to their disassembly
order. Change the set of washers (46) to change the original setting. A
protection plug and the compression adjuster are inside the screw (47). Do
not remove this part; should the adjuster not work properly, then change the
complete foot valve (41). Reassembly all parts in the reverse order. Pay
particular attention to the piston position (45); its slotted side must be opposite
to the set of washers (46). An improper piston position will cause troubles to
the fork. Tighten the nut (42) as indicated.
5- Slider plug disassembly

The REBOUND adjusting screw (19) is fitted inside the plug (48) of the slider
(7). Remove the dowel (17), the spring (16) and the ball (15) first to remove the
screw. Turn the adjusting screw (19) clockwise with a small screwdriver until it
can be withdrawn from the plug.
Lubricate the OR on the screw (19) and the ball (15) before reassembling.
Spread light glue on the dowel (17).
