The following are required before you can install, commission, and register the satellite modem:
• The antenna and radio assembly must be installed, as instructed in the antenna installation
guide. (However, you point the antenna as part of the modem commissioning process, which
is explained later in this installation guide.)
• The IFL cables must be installed and connected to the satellite modem and to the radio
assembly (LNB and transmitter).

Select a location for the satellite modem that will accommodate all required cable connections,
including connection to the power source.
Make sure the installation location meets the following requirements concerning ventilation and
heat sources.
• Do not block any of the modem's ventilation openings.
• Leave 6 inches of space around the top and sides of the modem to ensure adequate ventilation
and prevent overheating.
• Do not place the modem near a heat source such as direct sunlight, a radiator, heat register
or vent, oven, stove, amplifier, or other apparatus that produces heat.
