As a precautionary measure, you should make a copy of the
current firmware. You can copy the current firmware by using a
SCSI command, or by using the console Read Firmware command
(if supported by your software).
To make a copy of the current firmware by using a SCSI command,
use the READ BUFFER or READ FIRMWARE SCSI command. For
more information about using the SCSI commands, refer to
Exabyte 230D Library SCSI Reference.
Installation and Operation
Because of memory limitations, the library cannot
validate the data in the new firmw are file before erasing
the current firmware. If an error occurs while the new
firmware is being transferred, the library will not
operate unless you can provide a copy of the current
firmware. Therefore, before transferring the new
firmware, make a copy of the current firmware by
following the steps below.
