    Removing the top cover and faceplate Using a T-6 screwdriver, remove the two side screws and one rear screw that attach the top cover to the tape drive (see Figure 1). .ECKHA Removing the top cover To remove the top cover, slide it back about 1 inch (2.6 cm). Lift the front edge first, and then remove the cover.
  • Page 4 Removing the top cover and faceplate Gently pull the LCD flex cable out of the connector. Press in the faceplate press tabs on both sides of the tape drive, as shown in Figure 3. Pull the faceplate straight out from the tape drive. Make sure you pull the faceplate straight out to remove it.

    ! Adjusting the cartridge loader To access the door, you must move the cartridge loader into the “cartridge loaded” position. Locate the cartridge unload hole on the left side of the tape drive, as shown in Figure 4. .ECKHA" Adjusting the cartridge loader Insert the ballpoint Allen hex driver into the unload hole, guiding it through a hole in the circuit card until it mates with a the gear in the cartridge loader.

    " Replacing the door Lift the left end of the door hinge pin from the left door clip as shown in Figure 5. .ECKHA# Removing the left hinge pin Locate the spring on the right end of the hinge pin (see Figure 6). Using a pair of tweezers, remove the left end of the spring from the hole, as shown.
  • Page 7 " Replacing the door Snap the right end of the hinge pin out of the right door clip as shown in Figure 7. .ECKHA% Removing the right hinge pin If the door clips have become damaged or worn, replace them. To remove a door clip, insert a small screwdriver into the door clip hole and push gently against the clip.
  • Page 8 " Replacing the door Locate the replacement door. Insert the left end of the hinge pin into the left door clip. .ECKHA' Inserting the left end of the hinge pin into the door clip Snap the right end of the hinge pin into the right door clip. Be careful not to catch the spring in the door clip.
  • Page 9 " Replacing the door With the door lever pushed back, push in the bottom of the door and rotate it around the hinge pin one and a half turns to tension the spring, as shown in Figure 11. .ECKHA T ensioning the door spring Holding the door up directly above the hinge pin, pull the door lever to the front, as shown in Figure 12.

    $ Replacing the faceplate and top cover .ECKHA" Positioning the faceplate If your faceplate has an LCD, pull the tab on the LCD flex cable connector toward the left side panel (see Figure 15). If your faceplate does not have an LCD, go to step 6, on page 11. .ECKHA# Loosening the tab on the LCD flex cable connector Slide the LCD flex cable all the way into the connector on the card.

    The tape drive door closes when you pull the cartridge out § If you have a faceplate with an LCD, make sure the LCD operates correctly. Refer to Exabyte Mammoth Installation and Operation (part number 306484) for more information about the LCD. If you experience any problems, make sure: §...
