Using External Passcode Validation

The optional External Passcode Validation (EPV) feature enables the system to validate
security passcodes (moderator and conferee codes) and Personal Identification Numers (PIN
codes) on an external server.

Overview

With EPV enabled, the system can be integrated into a distributed audio conference
infrastructure where conferences are scheduled and conference parameters are stored on one
or more external database servers and uploaded to the system when the conferences are
convened.
When EPV is enabled, the system uses HTTP to send requests the external passcode server,
where passcodes and PIN codes are stored and validated The external server communicates
directly back to the bridge by sending an XML document that conforms to the Document Type
Definition, (epv.dtd). Figure depicts the components and data flow in the distributed
infrastructure.
