Chapter 14 Sensor Kit

14.2 Installation

Ribbon Supply Unit
(do not remove)
Note!
The only reason for the ribbon supply
unit and the media supply unit to be
shown dismantled in the drawing is to
improve visibility. In reality, the only
part that requires dismantling is the
guide plate.

Ribbon Low Sensor
• Open the right-hand door.
• Switch off the power and remove the left-hand cover.
• From the media compartment side, insert the connector and
cable through the square hole in the center section.
• Insert the sensor under the code disk of the ribbon supply unit
so the disc will run in the U-shaped slot between the receiver
and transmitter.
• Attach the sensor to the center section using one #T10 Torx
screw. Check that the code disc can rotate freely.
• Connect the cable to P-605 on the CPU board, see Chapter
17.4.
• Continue by fi tting the media low sensor.
Media Low Sensor
• Remove the three #T20 Torx screws holding the large crescent-
shaped guide plate that surrounds the media supply unit, see
Chapter 5.1. Remove the guide plate.
• Fit the sensor under the code disc of the upper supply unit using
the same method as when fi tting the ribbon low sensor.
• Connect the cable to P-602 on the CPU board, see Chapter
17.4.
• Put back the guide plate and the left-hand cover.
