Remove the eight screws on the battery cover plate and retain. Remove the plate. See Figure 81.

The UPS internal batteries are heavy (see page 136). Each battery tray holds two rows of five
l
batteries. Use caution when handling the heavy battery trays.
Pull the battery trays out onto a flat, stable surface. The battery trays are unsupported when you
l
pull them out of the UPS.
4.
Untuck the plastic handle at the end of a battery tray. Pull the handle firmly to remove the tray. Use both
hands to support the tray as it leaves the UPS cabinet.
Repeat for each battery tray. See "Recycling the Used Battery or UPS" on page 129 for proper disposal.
5.
Slide the new battery trays into the cabinet (see Figure 82 for two battery string installations and
Figure 83 for single-string installations). Verify that each tray is properly aligned before sliding in the tray.
NOTE
When installing single-string battery trays for BladeUPS 5.1 kVA, always install the
single-string trays in the bottom battery compartment.
6.
When a tray is fully installed, tuck the plastic handle on the end of the tray into place.
