Maintenance Bypass Module (MBM) is a three-breaker ® maintenance bypass. The MBM is designed to operate with the BladeUPS 12 kVA three-phase uninterruptible power supplies in a fully populated 60kW N+1 system. The MBM enables power to completely bypass and isolate the UPS so that the UPS can be safely serviced, upgraded, or replaced without interrupting power to critical systems.

Chapter 5 Operation This chapter contains information on how to use the BladeUPS Maintenance Bypass Module (MBM), including front panel controls and indicators, operating modes, and transferring the MBM between modes. Controls and Indicators The controls and indicators identified and described in Table 6 and shown in Figure 20 are used to control and monitor MBM operation.
  • Page 44: Operating Modes

The MBM supports a critical load in two different modes of operation: In Normal mode, the critical load is supplied by the BladeUPS, which derives its power from rectified utility AC power. In this mode, the battery charger also provides charging current for the battery, if needed.
  • Page 45: Normal Mode Current Flow

In Bypass mode, the critical load is not protected from commercial power interruptions and abnormalities.
