Chapter 5 Operation This chapter contains information on how to use the BladeUPS Maintenance Bypass Module (MBM), including front panel controls and indicators, operating modes, and transferring the MBM between modes. Controls and Indicators The controls and indicators identified and described in Table 6 and shown in Figure 20 are used to control and monitor MBM operation.
  • Page 38: Operating Modes

The MBM supports a critical load in two different modes of operation: In Normal mode, the critical load is supplied by the BladeUPS, which derives its power from rectified utility AC power. In this mode, the battery charger also provides charging current for the battery, if needed.
  • Page 39: Normal Mode Current Flow

The UPS can be safely shut down and AC input power removed from the UPS using the UPS Input breaker without interrupting power to the critical load. The UPS now can be serviced or replaced safely. Eaton BladeUPS Maintenance Bypass Module (MBM) User’s Guide 164201785—Rev 2 www.eaton.com/powerquality...
