Trace the cylinder head opening on the bottom
of the cowl.

Remove the template and use a rotary cutting
tool and sanding drum to cut out the cylinder
head opening in the cowl.

Attach the cowl and dry fit. Cut, and sand as
necessary until an exact fit is achieved and the
cowl does not contact the engine cylinder
head. This is a typical cowl cut out with canis-
ter or tuned pipe installation.
Note: It may be necessary to open the bottom
of the cowl for better engine cooling. Refer to
engine manufacturer's instructions.
18. This is a typical cowl cut out with the Pitts style
muffler installation.
Note: Use similar template methods for finding cut
out areas for muffler stacks.
