11.4 Other problems

Symptom
The media jammed.
The media cannot be taken up.
The waste ink tanks are full.

Cause
The edges of the media curled up, and
became jammed.
The media shifted and touched the print
heads.
The gap between the media and the
print heads was insufficient, causing the
media to touch the print heads.
The switch setting is incorrect.
The take-up sensor adjustment is
incorrect.

11. Troubleshooting
Solution
The edges of the media may curl up if the
media edge guards are not used. Be sure
to use the media edge guards.
If the media touched the print heads,
perform a printhead cleaning operation
(see Section 8.5 Printing the Nozzle
Check Pattern).
If the heater temperature is too high,
reduce it.
Check whether the media has been
loaded at an angle. Make sure that the
media is loaded so that it is straight.
Perform a printhead cleaning operation
(see Section 8.5 Printing the Nozzle
Check Pattern).
Raise the height of the print heads.
Perform a printhead cleaning operation
(see Section 8.5 Printing the Nozzle
Check Pattern).

the Take-up Unit in this manual for the
correct switch setting procedure.
Check whether the sensor is being
affected by direct sunlight or indoor
lighting.
See Section 7.3 Winding the Media onto
the Take-up Unit in this manual for the
sensor adjustment procedure.
Firmly tighten the caps on the waste
ink tanks and then dispose of them as
industrial waste.
