12.4 USING THE RECEIVER SHIELD

Healthcare professionals must apply a shield and its components to
the receiver before providing to each user. Use caution when handling
products worn or handled by another person. Wear personal protective
equipment as appropriate (gloves, protective goggles, lab coat, etc.).
Use only legally marketed Dexcom G4 PLATINUM Professional
Receiver Shields (manufactured by Seal Shield
of the Dexcom G4 PLATINUM Receiver).
The shield helps prevent microorganisms and pathogens from reaching
the receiver's surface. Replacing the receiver shield between each use
helps reduce the spread of contamination between users and healthcare
practitioners.
The receiver volume may be reduced if the acoustic spacers are not in
place. If the acoustic spacer is not in place, the user should return the
receiver to the healthcare professional.
1. Wash hands and put on sterile gloves.
Peel acoustic spacer from paper
backing and secure on upper speaker
