Turn the ignition switch to the ON
position (engine off).
Measure the voltage between ignition
coil terminal C (wiring harness-side)
and body ground.
Is the voltage B+?
INSPECT IGNITION COIL

Inspect the ignition coil.

Is there any malfunction?
INSPECT SPARK PLUG

Inspect the spark plug.
(See SPARK PLUG INSPECTION [13B-
MSP].)
Is there any malfunction?
VERIFY CURRENT INPUT SIGNAL STATUS OF

MAF SENSOR
Start the engine.
Access the MAF PID using the M-MDS.

Verify that the MAF PID changes
quickly according to the RPM when the
engine is raced.
Is the PID normal?

INSPECT INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM FOR EXCESSIVE

Visually inspect for looseness, cracks or
damaged hoses in intake-air system.

No Repair or replace the wiring harness for a
possible open circuit or short to ground,
then go to Step 23.
YesReplace the ignition coil, then go to Step
23.

No Inspect for open circuit in wiring harness
between ignition coil terminal B and
ground.
Repair or replace the wiring harness for a
possible open circuit, then go to Step 23.
