Are all items normal?
2 Turn the ignition switch to the
ON position (engine off).
Retrieve any DTCs using the M-
MDS.

Are there any DTCs displayed?
3 Is any other drivability concern
present?
4 Access the ECT PID.
(See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC
TEST [13B-MSP].)
Warm up the engine and run it at
idle.
Verify the ECT PID is correct.
Is the ECT PID correct?
(See PCM INSPECTION [13B-
MSP].)
5 Is a strong blue spark visible at
each disconnected high–tension
lead while cranking the engine?
Yes Go to the applicable DTC inspection.

No Go to the next step.
Yes Go to the applicable symptom troubleshooting.

No Go to the next step.
Yes Go to the next step.
No Inspect for coolant leakage, cooling fan operation or
thermostat operation.
Yes Inspect the following:
Spark plugs malfunction
Improperly installed eccentric shaft
