Disconnect the ECT sensor connector.
Inspect for poor connection (such as
damaged/pulled-out pins, corrosion).
Is there any malfunction?
INSPECT ECT SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR

SHORT TO GROUND
ECT sensor connector is disconnected.
Turn the ignition switch off.
Inspect for continuity between ECT
sensor terminal A (wiring harness-side)
and body ground.
Is there continuity?
INSPECT PCM CONNECTOR FOR POOR

CONNECTION
Turn the ignition switch off.
Disconnect the PCM connector.
Inspect for poor connection (such as
damaged/pulled-out pins, corrosion).
Is there any malfunction?
INSPECT ECT SENSOR

Inspect the ECT sensor.

(ECT) SENSOR INSPECTION [13B-
MSP].)
Is there any malfunction?
VERIFY TROUBLESHOOTING OF DTC P0117

COMPLETED
Make sure to reconnect all disconnected
connectors.
No Go to the next step.
YesIf the short to ground circuit could be
detected:
Repair or replace the wiring
harness for a possible short to
ground.
If the short to ground circuit could not be
detected:
Replace the PCM (short to
ground in the PCM internal
circuit).

Go to Step 7.
No Go to the next step.
YesRepair or replace the connector and/or
terminals, then go to Step 7.
No Go to the next step.
YesReplace the ECT sensor, then go to the next
step.

No Go to the next step.
YesReplace the PCM, then go to the next step.
