Communication Modes

Note
The printer provides high-speed data transmission on a parallel interface. You can select the
parallel interface communication mode from the operation panel. To change communication
mode, see

Use a parallel interface cable that complies with the IEEE 1284 standard.
You can choose from four communication modes:
Auto (default)
The printer automatically changes its communication mode to the one that is currently
used by the host computer.
Nibble
Allows high-speed data communications in compliance with the IEEE 1284 standard.
Normal
The standard communications method for Centronics interfaces.
High-speed
Enables high-speed data transmission between host computer and printer.
