Selecting the Document Image Type

The correct Document Image Type must be selected to ensure that copies
match the appearance of the original. The available document image types are
listed below.

Procedure

Select the [Document Image Type]
tab from the copier's menu screen.
Most suitable for documents that consist of characters and lines.
Produces sharp images.
Most suitable for documents that consist of a mixture of
characters, lines, and pictures. Produces sharp characters and
lines, and high levels of gradation within the pictures.
Most suitable for printed matter such as posters and pamphlets.
Produces smooth gradation levels; suppresses moir
Most suitable for photographs. Produces smooth gradation levels.
Most suitable for line documents with relatively dark
backgrounds. Background suppression can be used to produce
sharp images.
Most suitable for transparent documents. Suppresses blurring
around the edges of characters.
Most suitable for blueprints.
Most suitable for originals with drastic density changes, for
example, cut and paste documents.
• [Picture] and [Photo] cannot be selected when [Background Suppression] is set to
[Auto].
• Adjust the background suppression manually if horizontal lines appear on the lead
edge of the pasted document when [Line (Cut & Paste)] selected.
