3.14 Lead Impedance Measurements
The OPTIMIZER Smart Mini IPG measures the impedance of the ventricular leads by sending of
a biphasic pulse through each ventricular lead with the following characteristics:
Amplitude: 4.5 V ± 10%
Phase Duration: 0.5 ms ± 0.031 ms
Interval: 60 µs ± 10 µs
Balancing: 40 ms ± 5%
Note: OPTIMIZER Smart Mini IPG lead impedance measurement values, within the range of
75 Ω to 2000 Ω, have a tolerance of ± 20%.
Warning: Lead impedance measurements above 1000 Ω are very imprecise and must be
construed only as an indication of electrical continuity through the lead.
To measure the lead impedances:
1. If necessary, initiate a link with OPTIMIZER Smart Mini IPG
a. Place (or replace, if necessary) the Intelio Programming Wand over the OPTIMIZER
Smart Mini IPG implant site
b. Tap the Start OPTIlink button on the OPTIlink Session Pane
2. Tap the Diagnostics button on the Menu Bar
3. Select the Leads tab
4. On the Leads panel, tap the Measure Leads Impedance button
When completed, the V1 Lead Impedance: and V2 Lead Impedance: fields will become
populated with the lead impedance of each ventricular lead.
3.15 Stats and Trends
The OPTIMIZER Smart Mini IPG continuously monitors the patient's heart rhythm, collecting a
statistical record of events and conditions that occur throughout the day. In addition, the
OPTIMIZER Smart Mini IPG monitors its battery status, the sensing amplitude and impedance of
each implanted ventricular lead, and its functional status for any alert conditions that may occur
during its operation.
If enabled, the OPTIMIZER Smart Mini IPG can also continuously monitor the patient's activity,
collecting a record of the patient's activity throughout the day.
These records can all be loaded into the Optimizer Smart Mini Programmer application and
viewed by selecting the CCM Statistics and various Trends button on the Stats and Trends
panel of the Optimizer Smart Mini Programmer application.
3.15.1 CCM Statistics
3.15.1.1 Viewing CCM Statistics
To view the CCM Statistics from the OPTIMIZER Smart Mini IPG:
1. If necessary, initiate a link with OPTIMIZER Smart Mini IPG
2. Tap the Follow-up button on the Menu Bar
3. Select the Stats and Trends tab
4. On the Stats and Trends panel, tap the CCM Statistics button
If successful, the Programmer will display the CCM Statistics table. To view
each statistical category, select its CCM Statistics tab.
a. Place (or replace, if necessary) the Intelio Programming Wand over
the OPTIMIZER Smart Mini IPG implant site
b. Tap the Start OPTIlink button on the OPTIlink Session Pane
