Error Description
Physical link activation failure
The parameters thelt NTRI passed to
the TIC at TIC open time are invalid.
Physical lihk activation failure
When the TIC attempted to insert
onto the ring during TIC open time,
it detected a non-specific ring
failure.
Physical link activation failure
When the TIC attempted to insert
onto the ring during TIC open time,
it detected a loss of signal from the
ring which is known as a lobe media
error. This indicates a loose or
disconnected cable between the TIC
and the Multistation Access Unit
(MAU). It may also be a defective
cable or a defective MAU.
Physical link activation failure
When the TIC attempted to insert
onto the ring during TIC open time,
it detected a token ring failure, such
as a loss of signal or frame time
out.
Physical link activation failure
When the TIC attempted to insert
onto the ring during TIC open time,
it received a signal to remove itself
from the ring from a device on the
ring. This device is known as the
parameters server.
Physical link activation failure
When the TIC attempted to insert
onto the ring during TIC open time,
it detected an abnormal signal on
the ring. This may be due to ring
. beaconing or that.the adapter is
attempting to insert onto :the ring at
a
different ring speed.
Physical link INOP due toreceiving
a remove command
A device on the token ring sent a
. Remove command to this TIC,
i
which caUses the'TIC to disconnect
from the ring. The physical link as
well as all of its associated logical
links are INOPed.

User Action
Try to re-activate the physical link
and if the problem persists, contact
an IBM'" software service
representative
Try to re-activate the physical link
and if the problem persists, contact
an IBM service representative.
Check all connections. Try to
re-activate the physical link after
checking the connections. If it still
fails, connect the cable to another
plug on the MAU. ,If that does not
work, replace the cable. If the.
problem persists, co'ntact the local
token ring LAN administrator.
This may not be a persistent
problem, so try to re-activate the
physical link and if the problem
persists, contact the local token ring
LAN administrator.
This may not be a persistent
problem, so try to re-activate the
physical link and if the problem
persists, contact the local token ring
LAN administrator.
Ring beaconing may be a
temporary condition, so try to
re-activate the physical link after
waiting 30 seconds. If the problem
persists, verify that the speed of the
ring matches the speed specified by
the TRSPEED keyword on the
physical link definition statement. If
the problem continues to persist,
contact your local token f;ing LAN
administrator.
Contact the token ring operator or
administrator to determine what
device sent the REMOVE command
and why it was sent.
