Expansion card options

The server supports PCIe riser options for installing half‑height, half‑length (low‑profile) expansion cards. The following
expansion options are supported in this server:
HPE Smart Array type-p controller
Ethernet adapter
InfiniBand adapter
Fibre channel host bus adapter (FC HBA)
For more information on the specific expansion models supported, see the QuickSpecs on the product page (https://
www.hpe.com/servers/apollo2000).

PCIe expansion option population rules

To maintain optimum system cooling, follow these rules when populating the PCIe riser slots:
Determine if the expansion option requires a specific system operating temperature. For more information, see the HPE
website (https://www.hpe.com/support/xl225ngen10plus-thermal).
When installing only one expansion card, always install it in the secondary riser slot 2.
When installing two expansion cards, always install the first expansion card in the secondary riser slot 2.
Follow this priority sequence:
1. HPE Smart Array Xxxxi-p controller
2. HPE network adapter with QSFP28/QSFP56 transceiver, HPE EDR/HDR InfiniBand adapter
3. HPE network adapter or FC HBA with SFP+/SFP28/QSFP transceivers, HPE QDR/FDR InfiniBand adapter
4. HPE Smart Array Xxxxe-p controller
