Silencer (Touran)

3.1

Assembly overview - silencers

Note
After working on the exhaust system ensure that the system
is not under stress, and that there is sufficient clearance to the
bodywork. If necessary, loosen clamp and align silencer and
exhaust pipe so that sufficient clearance is maintained to the
bodywork and the support rings are evenly loaded.
Renew self-locking nuts.
1 - Mounting
❑ Renew if damaged.
2 - Retaining ring for rear si‐
lencer
❑ Renew if damaged.
3 - Rear silencer
❑ For repairs, renew indi‐
vidually.
4 - 25 Nm
5 - Mounting
❑ With retaining ring.
❑ Renew if damaged.
6 - Separating point
❑ For repair cases
❑ Marked by three inden‐
tations on circumfer‐
ence of exhaust pipe
❑ Front and rear silencers
are installed as a single
component during pro‐
duction. In repair cases,
the front and rear silenc‐
ers are supplied individ‐
ually with a repair clamp
for connecting them.
❑ Cutting exhaust pipe

7 - Front silencer
❑ For repairs, renew indi‐
vidually.
8 - Clamp
❑ Specified torque and in‐
stallation position
9 - Threaded union
❑ Tighten bolted connections evenly. Specified torque and installation position
