COOLANT FLUSH

1. Allow the vehicle to cool down before working with
the cooling system.
CAUTION
Escaping steam/coolant can cause burns. Never
remove the pressure cap or coolant hose while the
engine is warm/hot.
2. Place a drain pan below the engine coolant inlet
w
and outlet
hoses.
NOTICE
Rear shock is hidden for clarity.
3. Remove the pressure cap from the coolant reservoir.
4. Remove a coolant hoses and allow coolant to drain.
IMPORTANT
After allowing the hoses to drain, coolant may remain
the following areas:
Lower hose areas - raising the front of the vehicle, or
using a vacuum fluid extractor, will help to drain these
areas.
Engine - drain plug on the water pump housing will
drain the engine of coolant.
Radiator - a vacuum hose through each radiator hose
port can help to drain the radiator side tanks.
5. A wet vac may also be used to evacuate coolant from
the system.
6. Connect the coolant hoses and properly position the
clamps.
7. Ensure the transmission is in park.

8. Slowly fill the cooling system at the coolant reservoir
to the COLD FILL line with 50/50 extended life
coolant. Let coolant drain down, then repeat until the
level no longer drops. Refer to Chapter 1 – General
Specifications for approximate coolant system
capacity.
Do NOT overfill to the vent line ports. This will make
bleeding air from the system more difficult.

9. Start the engine, and allow to run to operating
temperature. Reinstall the pressure cap to the
reservoir. If additional system bleeding is necessary,
slightly loosen the bleed screw on the thermostat
housing and allow to bleed until a solid stream of
coolant is observed, with no air bubbles. Re-tighten
the bleed screw.
