EAW UMX.96 Owner's Manual
A currently assigned channel's ASSIGN button lights white when either of these chan-
nel assign switches are selected. The scribble strip displays the channel name and the
safe status. To assign a channel or fader to Channel Safe or Fader Safe, enable one of
the Snapshot Safe buttons in the center Channel Assign area. Press the ASSIGN but-
ton on every channel that you wish to add.
Holding CTRL and pressing one of the Snapshot Safe buttons clears all channel safe
or fader safe assignments respectively. By default, all channels are unassigned from
Channel Safe and Fader Safe making them all affected by snapshot recall.

Dynamics Buttons

These two buttons (gate — red, compressor — green) allow viewing and controlling
gate and compressor operation on the channel V-Pot. At the channel strip, the AS-
SIGN button enables or disables the chosen processor while turning the V-Pot knob
adjusts the Gate or Compressor Threshold. The V-Pot LEDs display the amount of gain
reduction as a meter moving right to left. The scribble strip displays the channel name
on the top line until the threshold is adjusted on the V-Pot; it then displays the thresh-
old value briefly. The bottom line of the scribble strip displays gate GR or comp GR as
appropriate for the processor being adjusted.
8.2.1.3

VCA Buttons

These 16 green buttons allow assignment of the channels to the corresponding VCA
groups. At the channel strip, the ASSIGN button illuminates for any channel belong-
ing to the chosen VCA group.
Enabling an ASSIGN button adds the channel to the VCA group. Disabling an AS-
SIGN button removes that channel from the VCA group. The scribble strip displays the
channel name on the top line or a Custom Name if one has been assigned (see Sec-
tion 12.10.7 for details on custom naming), and vca 1 (1-16) on the bottom line. The
V-Pot encoder has no function and its LEDs will be unlit for VCA Channel Assign.
Holding CTRL and pressing a VCA Channel Assign button clears all VCA assignments
for that VCA. By default, all channels are not assigned to any VCAs.
8.2.1.4

Mute Groups

These 8 red buttons designate a mute group for channel assignment. When one of
these buttons is pressed, the ASSIGN button on the channel strip illuminates for any
channel belonging to the chosen MUTE group.
Enabling an ASSIGN button adds the channel to the Mute Group. Disabling an AS-
SIGN button removes that channel from the Mute Group. The scribble strip displays
the channel name on the top line or a Custom Name if one has been assigned (see
Section 12.10.7 for details on custom naming), and mute 1 (1-8) on the bottom line.
The V-Pot encoder has no function and its LEDs will be unlit for Mute Group Channel
Assign.
Holding CTRL and pressing a Mute Group Channel Assign button clears all Mute
Group assignments for that Mute Group. By default, all channels are not assigned to
any Mute Groups.
The Mute Group Masters are located in the Touch and Spin area, just above the Intel-
ligent Encoder. See also Sections 11.3, and 12.9.6.
