Scribble Strips

Each group of eight channels has an associated 55 character by 2 character scribble strip. This strip displays
the channel name and V-Pot information using black text on a backlit white background for maximum con-
trast in both daytime and nighttime/indoor lighting conditions. The scribble strip is a high-tech replacement
for the white console tape normally used for this function. It constantly updates to give relevant information
about the channels and parameters under control.

Touchscreen

The UMX.96 uses a 15" inch color touch panel with a native 1024 x 768 resolution. The touch panel is glare
and smudge resistant and the LCD display is capable of wide viewing angles with multiple brightness levels.
Use your finger or the included stylus to interact with the touchscreen. This is the "Touch" component of the
UMX.96's "Touch and Spin" interface.
2.4.4

Intelligent Encoder

The Intelligent Encoder uses an adaptive haptic
resolution control of the parameter selected and displayed on the touchscreen. This user input device allows
the Intelligent Encoder to adapt its "feel" dependent on the currently selected parameter. The feel compo-
nent includes the arc of rotation, detents, and torque. This is the "Spin" component of the UMX.96's "Touch
and Spin" interface.
2.4.5

Switches

The UMX.96 uses numerous momentary switches that control many of the functions of the console. Some
are multifunctional and some have different modes depending on their being held or released in combina-
tion with other switches. All switches are ultra-bright single, bi-color, or tri-color backlit for quick and reliable
status indication. For dark environments, a global dimmer (Setup>General) allows lowering the light level
below blinding. The switch caps are low-profile which is helpful when you are setting a number of switches
simultaneously by swiping your finger across them, much like performing a glissando on a piano.
