Now press the flashing ASSIGN button on Channel 8 to assign Master Bank STEREO 1-8 to the
first set of 8 faders. Now both the MATRIX 1-8 button and the STEREO 1-8 button remain lit, as
both are still assigned, and ANALOG 1-24 remains lit as well.
You can now change the channel bank by pressing ANALOG 25-48. The master banks remain
unchanged so the only visible change is the central bucket now displays channels 33 – 40. To
unassign the master banks one at a time, press MATRIX 1-24 and it flashes again. Channels 8
and 24 ASSIGN buttons light solid since they have been assigned and only the channel 16 AS-
SIGN flashes. Pressing ASSIGN on 24, which was already assigned to MATRIX 1-8, unassigns that
master bank. These eight faders revert to the background channel bank (Analog 41-48) and the
Master Bank button for Matrix 1-8 goes out leaving only Stereo 1-8 lit and assigned and Analog
25-48 lit for the channel bank.
Master banks can be made to reset when you change the Channel Bank. This is done by dis-
abling the Lock button in the Utility>Banks screen (see Section 12.9.7).

Channel Assign Section

The Channel Assign buttons let you focus on a single control for all channels visible on the up-
per and lower banks. This is useful for setup when you may be setting gains on multiple mics, or
when configuring a monitor mix by adjusting sends for all channels.
Pressing any of these 68 buttons changes the function of the channel scribble strip, V-Pot and
ASSIGN buttons. To help indicate what is under control, the scribble strip typically shows the pa-
rameter under control of the V-Pot on the lower line, and the ASSIGN button matches the color
of the lit Channel Assign button. The Channel Assign buttons typically act in an exclusive manner,
with one lit at a time, unless otherwise detailed (see Aux Pan and Aux Mode — Sections 8.2.3.3
and 8.2.3.4).
The operation of each Channel Assign button and its corresponding effect on the channel's
scribble strip, V-Pot and Assign button are described in the following sections. If a channel does
not use the selected Channel Assign, the V-Pot and ASSIGN button appear unlit.
The Channel Assign section is divided into two different sections. The upper section handles
Channel and Fader Safe, Dynamics, VCA Groups, and Mute Groups. The lower section handles
Preamp controls, Aux/Groups, and Effects. Unlike the Bank Select buttons, the Channel Assign
buttons affect both the upper and lower banks at once.
8.2.1

Upper Section

The upper assign section controls the following channel functions:
• Channel Safe and Fader Safe buttons allow isolating an entire channel or just a fader from the
effect of a snapshot recall. Channel and Fader Safe also exempt a channel from Solo In Place
muting.
• Gate and Compressor buttons allow control of corresponding threshold level and processor
in/out state while simultaneously showing gain reduction.
• VCA Groups buttons allow assignment or removal of channels from that VCA group.
• MUTE Groups buttons allow assignment or removal of channels from that MUTE group.
8.2.1.1

Snapshot Safe Buttons

These two white buttons allow designating entire channels or just the faders and mutes as snap-
NYI
shot safe. A Channel Safe channel does not respond to any snapshot changes to any channel
parameter. A Fader Safe channel does not respond to any snapshot fader or mute changes. In
addition, Channel Safe and Fader Safe channels are safe from Solo In Place muting (see Section
12.10.1).
