Chapter 13: MM Control Software

The UMX.96 is capable of using an external computer as an alternate controller by installing the MM Control
software application on your desktop or laptop Windows PC. It is also possible to prepare shows ahead of
time and then transfer them to the console using a USB flash drive.
13.1

Minimum PC Requirements

• Windows XP SP2
• Ethernet Port
• Minimum Screen Resolution 1024 x 768
• Pentium 4, Celeron, or Athlon XP Processor
• 256 MB RAM
13.2

Installing the MM Control Software

1.
Insert the CD provided with the UMX96 into the CD drive on your computer.
2.
Click "Start > Run > Browse" and navigate to the CD drive. Double-click the file named:
"setup.exe".
3.
Click "OK" in the Run window.
4.
When the installation is complete, it places a shortcut on your desktop called "umx.96 control. " Double-
click the shortcut icon to launch the MM Control software application.
13.3

Offline Operation

Use the MM Control software application to make or recall presets, snapshots, shows, and mixer configura-
tions remotely with your computer. You can then copy the files onto a USB flash drive and transfer them to
the UMX96.
• A folder called "umx96" was created in the same folder where the setup.exe file was installed.
• Navigate to the umx96 folder and open it. Then open the Docs folder.
• All preset, snapshot, show, and mixer configuration files are stored in the UserDrive folder.
• Connect a USB flash drive to your computer's USB port.
• Copy the files that you want to transfer to the UMX.96 from the UserDrive folder to the USB flash drive.
• Remove the USB flash drive from the computer and connect it to the USB port on the UMX.96.
• Using the File Transfer feature (Section 12.12.3), copy the files to the UMX.96's hard drive.
13.4

Synced Operation

The MM Control software can also be used while connected to the console as an alternate controller. If the
NYI
software is started with a console connected, the software automatically syncs itself to the state of the con-
sole.
If the console is connected while MM Control is already running, both the console screen and the remote
screen displays a prompt, MM Control device connected, and three buttons, Update Console, Update MM
Control, and Cancel.
• Update Console replaces the console's settings with those from the MM Control, including the loaded
show and snapshots.
• Update MM Control replaces the MM Control settings with those from console including the loaded show
and snapshots.
