USER 1 and 2 —These buttons allow access to the two user-defined custom banks of 24
channels. In the user bank, any input and output channel can be combined via the user
bank assign screen. See section 12.9.5 for additional information.

Master Bank Selection

To display a master bank on a set of eight faders (bucket), follow these steps:
• Press a Master Bank Select button. The button starts blinking. The right-most ASSIGN
button for each of the three buckets of eight faders on that bank also flashes in sync
with the Master Bank Select button. All other assign buttons on the bank temporarily
go out.
• Press one of these three ASSIGN buttons to assign the master bank to that bucket.
The Master Bank button lights solidly and the ASSIGN buttons return to the previous
functionality with the new master bank assigned. After three seconds without choosing
an ASSIGN button, the system times out and no master bank is assigned.
• Repeat this action to assign another master bank to another bucket. Already assigned
master banks will light their assign buttons solid. This allows three master banks to be
assigned to each of the buckets. The lower 24 and upper 24 banks are completely inde-
pendent in terms of master bank assignments.
• Unassign a master bank using the same method. Press the Master Bank Select button
you wish to unassign and press the solidly lit ASSIGN button for the bucket you wish to
unassign.
• Master bank assignments are normally locked, meaning if you change the underlying
channel bank, the master banks will remain in view until you manually clear them. See
the Bank Hierarchy section below for more information.
The following Master Banks can be assigned:
Matrix 1-8 — Assigns the eight matrix master output channels to the bucket.
VCA 1-8 — Assigns VCA Masters 1-8 to the bucket
VCA 9-16 — Assigns VCA Masters 9-16 to the bucket
EFX 1-4 — Assigns the four Internal Effects returns to the bucket. Note that each internal
effect return is actually two stereo linked channels.
Stereo 1-8 — Assigns the eight Stereo Input channels to the bucket. These are true stereo
channels so only a single fader is used for each channel.
8.1.3

Bank Hierarchy

Think of the channel bank as a background layer and the master bank as a foreground
layer. You can set up the foreground layer with multiple master banks as desired, and
background layer changes have no effect on master bank assignments (unless you disable
the master bank lock on the Utilities>Banks screen — see Section 12.9.7 for details).
Example: ANALOG 1-24 is being displayed on the lower bank. Press the MATRIX 1-8
button in the lower Master Bank Select section. It begins flashing in sync with the ASSIGN
buttons on lower faders 8, 16, and 24 (the rest of the ASSIGN buttons for that bank go
out). Press the ASSIGN button on channel 24, and the MATRIX 1-8 master bank is as-
signed to that bucket. MATRIX 1-8 now lights solid and ANALOG 1-24 also remains lit.
Now press Stereo 1-8; it flashes as do the ASSIGN buttons on channels 8 and 16, but the
ASSIGN button on channel 24 lights solid to signify that it has already been assigned a
Master Bank (although it is still a valid Master Bank assignment target).
