4.2.1 Configure the Computer's Local Area Network
1. From the Windows Start button, select "Settings>Control
Panel" to view the control panels.
2. Locate the "Network" icon and open this control panel.
3. View the Protocols tab of the Network window and
highlight the "TCP/IP Protocol" item in the list. Then, click
on the "Properties" button. Refer to Figure 4-1.
Note
The following steps change the local area connection settings. If
the computer must be restored to its original network
configuration, record the present Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
settings now.
4. Click the "Specify an IP address" option.
5. Enter the IP address "192.168.1.200".
6. Enter the default Subnet Mask "255.255.255.0."
7. Click the OK button to close the TCP/IP Properties
properties window. Then, click the OK button to close the
Network properties window.
