The Companion XL supports three methods that introduce the sample: liquid sample injection, solid sample cartridges, and loading sample directly onto the column.

    ® ® CombiFlash Companion XL Installation Guide 8.4.2 Solid Sample Cartridges Solid sample cartridges are practical when there is a need to introduce a low-solubility sample onto the column. The cartridge holds the prepared sample. After equilibration, the Companion XL changes the fluid path so that the mobile phase passes through the cartridge and onto the column.

    ® ® CombiFlash Companion XL Installation Guide 8.4.3 Direct Loading a Sample Direct loading places the sample mixture on the column media. If using this technique, remove the column inserted in section 8.3 of these instructions. Then, transfer the mixture onto the column through the inlet fitting and re-insert the column.

Use isopropyl alcohol for tougher stains. On printed areas, such as the rear panel, avoid rubbing vigorously or using aggressive solvents like acetone.

If your instrument stops working and the front panel status LEDs (Power and Ready) are off, check the line cord connection. 2.     Section 9 Maintenance 9.4 Flow Cell Cleaning The Companion XL may alert you that flow cell cleaning is recommended. This alert message appears when flow cell light path is partially obstructed but the system is still operable. Cleaning the flow cell will keep the amount of noise and drift on the absorbance trace at a minimum and ensure accurate peak detection.
