The "Use a Proxy Server" check box must be cleared to connect to
the Companion XL.
c. Click OK to close the LAN settings window.
12. Click OK to close the window.
13. Shut down the computer.

4.2.3 Start Direct Communications

1. Connect the Windows NT computer to the Companion XL
using the blue cross-over cable (P/N 480-6545-02).
2. Turn the Companion XL's power switch to ON. Wait for the
second green light (Ready), and then start the computer.
3. Log in to the computer using an account with
administrator privileges.
Note
Logging in with administrator privileges is necessary to register
PeakTrak software components (during step 6) on the computer
so that all user accounts on that computer will be able to connect
to the Companion XL.
4. Start Internet Explorer and type in the address
"http://192.168.1.51/login". The browser will display the
PeakTrak Login screen.
Note
The PeakTrak Login screen indicates that the direct connection is
working.
5. Enter the login password for the Companion XL. The
Companion XL is shipped with the default password of
"companion" (all lower-case). Click the submit button.
Note
The default password may be changed after you have established
the connection. Refer to the Companion XL's Help documentation
after you have completed the connection.
