7.2.2 Install Network Cable

1. Turn the Companion XL's power switch to OFF.
2. Disconnect the blue crossover cable from the
Companion XL. (This cable may only be used for direct
connections.)
3. Connect the Companion XL to the local area network using
the beige Ethernet cable (P/N 480-6545-01). This is a 10
foot long Category 5 Ethernet cable, terminated with RJ-45
connectors.
Note
The computer used for direct connection to the Companion XL
may be returned to its original configuration at this time.
7.2.3 Establish Communications through the Local Area Network
1. Turn the Companion XL's power switch to ON. Wait for the
second green light (Ready) to illuminate.
2. From any network computer within the same domain and
workgroup (consult your network administrator), log in to
computer using an account with administrator privileges.
Note
Logging in with administrator privileges is necessary to register
PeakTrak software components (during step 14) on the local
computer so that all user accounts on that computer will be able to
connect to the Companion XL.
Note
The computer must meet the minimum requirements specified in
Table 7-1.
Note
Attention Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 Users:
Before connecting to the Companion XL, run the preinstaller tool.
Refer to instruction sheet 60-5232-099.
