Various observation methods

4-1 Reflected light differential interference contrast (DIC) observation

For the DIC (Differential Interference Contrast) observation, following units are required.
· Analyzer: GX-AN360 or GX-AN
· DIC slider: U-DICR (standard), U-DICRH* or U-DICRHC
· Revolving nosepiece (equipped with the DIC slider insertion slot): U-D5BDRE, U-D5BDREM or U-D6REM
· The performance of the polarizer may be deteriorated if it is exposed to the light for a long period
NOTE
(approx. 2,000 hours continuously). If this happens, replace the polarizer.
· When using the mercury lamp housing, be sure to use the U-25L42 filter to prevent the polarizer from
tarnish.
Select the brightfield (BF) observation.
Engage the 10X objective in the light path.
Set the analyzer and the polarizer.
Engage the objective with the magnification to be used
in the light path and bring the sample into focus.
Adjust the aperture diaphragm and the field diaphragm.

* When using the DIC slider U-DICRH to perform the sensitive color observation, combine the polarizer GX-POTP.
Set the main switch to (ON).
Select the observation light path.
Place a sample on the stage.
Bring the sample into focus.
Set the DIC slider.
Adjust the brightness.
Adjust the interpupillary distance.
Adjust the diopter.
Adjust the brightness.
Adjust the prism of the DIC slider.

· Polarizer: GX-PO or GX-POTP ( PO surface)
