Troubleshooting
If problems occur, please review the following list and take remedial action as needed.
If you cannot solve the problem after checking the entire list, please contact Olympus for assistance.
1. Optical systems
a) The main switch does not turn
ON.
b) The lamp turns ON and OFF.
c) The lamp does not turn ON.
d) The lamp burns out quickly.
e) Even though the lamp turns
ON, the field of view is dark.
f) The field of view is obscured or
is not evenly illuminated.

Problem
The power cord is not connected
completely.
The lamp is about to burn out.
The lamp is burned out.
The lamp is not attached.
You are not using the proper lamp. Replace with a proper lamp.
The field diaphragm and aperture
diaphragm are narrowed down.
The light path selection knob is not
at the proper observation light path
position.
The ND filter with low transmittance
is engaged in the light path.
The light path selection knob is at
the middle position.
The revolving nosepiece is not set
to the click position properly.
The lamp housing is not attached
correctly.
The scale slider or the dummy
slider is at the middle position.
The eyepiece/camera light path
selection knob is at the middle
position.
The field diaphragm is narrowed
down too far.
The field diaphragm is not
centered.
The polarizer and the analyzer are
at the middle position.
The filter slider is at the middle
position.
The revolving nosepiece is not
attached correctly.
The BF/DF selection lever is at the
middle position.
Cause
Connect the cord completely.
Replace with a new lamp.
Replace with a new lamp.
Attach the lamp.
Open the aperture diaphragm
sufficiently, and also open the
field diaphragm until the field
diaphragm circumscribes the field
of view.
Set it at the proper light path
position.
Select the proper transmittance.
Move the knob to the stop position
according to the purpose.
Set it to the click position properly.
Attach it properly.
Push it to the stop position
completely.
Move the knob to the stop position
according to the purpose.
Open the field diaphragm
sufficiently.
Center the field diaphragm.
Slide them to the stop position
according to the purpose.
Set it to the click position properly.
Push it to the stop position
completely and fix it.
Set it to the click position properly.
