3-11 Adjusting the field diaphragm (FS)

Slide the BF/DF selection lever to set to the BF side.

Rotate the revolving nosepiece to engage the 10X objective in the light
path and place the sample on the stage to bring it into focus approximately.
Pull the field diaphragm lever a to narrow down the field diaphragm

to within the field of view. (Picture A)
Insert the Allen screwdriver into the FS centering screws b (2 pcs.)

and rotate each to adjust so that the field diaphragm image comes
to the center of the field. (Picture B)
While pushing in the field diaphragm lever a , open the field

diaphragm gradually until the field diaphragm image is inscribed in
the field of view. (Picture C)
If the center of the field diaphragm image is deviated, perform the
centering again.

Open the field diaphragm until the field diaphragm image becomes
almost the same size (circumscribed) as the field of view. (Picture D)
In case of reflected light darkfield observation, push in the
NOTE
field diaphragm lever a to fully open the field diaphragm.
If the field diaphragm is not fully opened, the observed
image becomes dark and the darkfield observation may
not be available..
