The architecture of the library has two ethernet networks in it. The Library Control
Blade (LCB) can be connected to your network for remote management via the
web interface. There is also an "internal network" that the LCB communicates on.
The internal network includes the Service Ethernet Port (which happens to be
physically located on the outside of the LCB).
The LCB has two networks with associated IP addresses. You cannot have two
devices with the same IP trying to communicate with the LCB. The internal
network is set by default to a 10.10.10.X set of IP's.
To prevent conflict with the other devices on the network that may have the same
IP, the library internal network can be reconfigured to addresses that range from
10.10.20.x to 10.10.90.x.
From the Operator Panel: Setup → Network Management
From the Web User Interface: Manage Library → Settings → Network
Manage Library → Settings → SNMP
The network management screens contain these tabs:
v SSL (Secure Sockets Layer)
Secure Socket Layer (SSL) is a protocol used for transmitting data securely over
the Internet. Browsers, such as Netscape and MS Internet Explorer, use a private
key that encrypts the data before it is transferred. The recipient of this secured
data can then use that key to decode the information.
v Trap Registration
Registration Traps are alerts or status messages that can be collected, monitored,
and used to proactively manage attached libraries using SNMP protocol with the
host server(s). This screen also has a Test button that will send a sample
message to ensure that your Trap settings are entered correctly.
v SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) Version
