Measurement Principle and Precautions

1-1-1 Measurement Principle

The measurement principle of high speed multiple laser displacement sensor
HL-D3 series (hereinafter referred to as HL-D3) is the light plane intersecting
1
method (triangle distance measuring method).
[What is light plane intersecting method?]
In general, the method like HL-D3 is called measurement with "light plane
intersecting method".
"Triangle distance measuring method" is included as one measure in the light
plane intersecting method.
[What is triangle distance measuring method?]
The light plane intersecting method projects a slit light (fan shaped laser,
scanning laser, etc.) with high brightness to the object to be measured. The
slit light is projected as if the object is cut. The image is taken with a digital
camera in a different direction. Since the positions of the laser, camera and
workpiece form a triangle, it is referred to the triangle distance measuring
method.
It is officially indicated as the "method to calculate the distance based on the
principle of the triangular surveying".
1-1-2 Measurement Axis and Laser Specification
In HL-D3, the red line laser (class 2, class 3R) is emitted from the sensor
head.
For the measuring range, the height (distance) from the sensor head is
determined as the Z axis, and the width that covers line laser of parallel light
is determined as the X axis.
