The prima1y purpose of the commlmications interface PCB is to provide a means to
commllllicate with the inve1ter through either Modbus RTU or Modbus TCP/IP.
These connections can be used for third party monit01ing or for web-based inve1ter
monitoring through the AE commercial monito1ing website (which uses a proplietaiy
Ethernet protocol).
The communications interface PCB provides the following:
• Remote disable capabilities, which allow the inve1 ter to be disabled through
external methods such as an e-stop, generator interlock, or fire ala1m panel
• Binaiy Modbus device addressing
• Additional Modbus slave po1t tenninal block, which makes it easier to nm an
RS-485 daisy-chain network
Inve1ters with the old Comm X PCB do not suppo1 t the remote disable feature or
other features associated with the communications interface PCB. To detennine
whether a specific inve1ter has the communications interface PCB, visually inspect
the commllllication board in the unit to see if the remote disable te1minal block is
present, and the wire hainess is connected to the inve1ter control wire harness
connectors located at the edge of the board.

DANGER:
Risk of electrical shock. High voltages are present in the inverter cabinet.
Both AC and DC disconnects must be in the OFF position when working on
the unit. Wait five minutes to discharge high voltage before opening the front
panels of the inverter.

An Ethernet connection can be used to connect the unit to the internet, or to a local
Modbus/TCP network not connected to the internet. AE offers a free basic
monitoring service through the solai·energy.advanced-energy.com website. Internet
service must be set up at the installation site before the inve1ter can be accessed
online.
The data monitoring module suppo1 ts only hai·d-wired CATS solutions to the
inve1ter. The module does NOT suppo1t wireless configurations. To access the data
