IDENTIFYING A GROUND FAULT
The inve1ter
is
equipped with a Ground Fault Detector
Intem1 pter
(GFDI).
The
purpose
of
the GFDI is
to
detect
a ground
fault
(unintended cmTent flow
from the
solar
panels to eaith
grOlmd) and
in this
event,
disable the
inve1
ter.
fil
WARNING:
For the GFDI circuit to function as
designed,
the solar array safety ground
must not be connected to the PV array positive or negative
leads.
Bonding
the safety ground to the grounded leg of the array anywhere but through the
inverter will cause the GFDI circuit to be
bypassed.
This would defeat the
operation of the GFDI and potentially create an unsafe operating condition.
fil
A VERTISSEMENT:
Pour que le circuit GFDI fonctionne
normalement,
la prise de terre de
securite du systeme
PV
ne doit pas etre branche
aux
<:Ables positifs ou
negatifs des piles
PV
. Brancher la prise de terre de securite au pied des piles
ou
a
toute autre partie que l'onduleur causerait une mise hors circuit du
GFDI. Ceci ne emp8cherait le fonctionnement normale du circuit GFDI et
creerait des conditions de fonctionnement potentiellement
dangereuses.
The
GFDI
ftmctions
using
a 3 A fuse
to
connect or
bond the solar
airny negative (or
the solar airny
positive,
if
using a positively grounded
panel
aITay)
to eaith
ground
on
the
DC distribution PCB.
If
the
ground
fault cunent exceeds 3
A
between
the
grOlmded airny
tenninal
and
the eaith
ground,
the
GFDI
fuse
will
open
and
disconnect
the
solai· panels
from
their
ground
reference, intenupting the ground fault.
In
this
situation,
the
inve1
ter
will
cease
operation
and
show a
ground fault message
on
the
inve1ter
display.
To Identify the Cause of a Ground Fault
1.
Tmn
the
ON/OFF
switch
on the
display to the
OFF
position.
2
.
Tmn
the
AC disconnect
to the
power
OFF
position.
3.
Tmn
the DC
disconnect
to the
power
OFF
position.
4
.
Identify the cause
of
the ground fault by checking
the following
items:
a.
A configuration eITor
during commissioning.
b.
Switching
the
grounded conductor
in
the
DC
disconnect.
For a negatively grounded
system,
the
positive leg
should
be broken in
the
DC disconnect.
For a
positively
grounded
system,
the
negative leg
should
be broken in
the
DC disconnect.
c.
A pinched wire
in
the
installation connecting
some
pait
of
the aITay or
DC
wiring
to ea1th
grOlmd.
d.
Mismatched
airny strings
in a
multiple
inve1 ter
installation.
