Preparation for use
Walking on stairs and ramps
WARNING
Walking down stairs
Risk of injury due to triggering the powered push-off
► Practice walking correctly down stairs.
► Do not set the forefoot onto the steps.
Prerequisite: The settings for walking on the level have been completed.
>
1) Perform the exercises on a ramp/stairs. In doing so, keep the tablet within the range of the Bluetooth connec
tion so the settings can be changed.
2) Walking up: Take the first step on the ramp/stairs with the dominant/sound side. Step down with the prosthet
ic foot so the load is placed only on the forefoot and the knee is slightly bent. In doing so, shift the body weight
to the prosthesis to trigger the powered push-off. Only use the railing for assistance to a minor extent.
3) In STEP 2, adjust the parameter Fast Power. If the result is not optimal, adjust the parameter Toe Strike in
the advanced settings.
4) Walking down: Step down with the prosthetic foot so the load is only on the hindfoot. This prevents activating
the powered push-off.

Adjustment description and procedure
Sets the plantar flexion resistance at heel strike.
Sets the powered push-off for a self-selected speed. It influ
ences the parameters for fast walking and slow walking jointly.
Set the powered push-off to the lowest acceptable value.
This allows the prosthetic foot to deliver its optimum per
formance.
Sets the powered push-off for fast walking. This parameter
also influences climbing stairs or walking up steep ramps.
Set the optimum value according to the diagram in the Per
sonal Bionics Tuning Application. Optimum values are
within the two dashed lines.
Sets the powered push-off for slow walking.
Set the optimum value according to the diagram in the Per
sonal Bionics Tuning Application. Optimum values are
within the two dashed lines.
Adjustment description and procedure
Increases the sensitivity for triggering the powered push-off.
If there is no power response after increasing the
parameter "Self-Selected Power": Increase the value
until the powered push-off is triggered.
Influences the timing of the powered push-off for fast walking.
If the powered push-off acts more upwards than for
wards during fast walking: Increase the value.
Influences the timing of the powered push-off for slow walking.
If the powered push-off acts more upwards than for
wards during slow walking: Increase the value.
If the powered push-off works inconsistently: Decrease
the value.
