TROUBLE-SHOOTING THE CAPS

No liners
PROBLEM
1
Caps without liners are produced at
the start and end of the production
run.

Caps without liners are produced
during a normal production run.
8.3.2.2
Incomplete liners
PROBLEM
1
Incomplete liners without other defects
are produced.

Liners are incomplete and have burrs
between the rings on the opposite side
(diameter).

CAUSE
This is not a fault. This condition
is necessary to ensure proper
machine operation.
Pellets are not placed in the cap.
See the chapter that deals with
the INSERTION DRUM.
The liner comes off as the plastic
compound does not stick to the
cap. See the chapter that deals
with the INSERTION DRUM.
CAUSE
Weight of the pellet too low.
Temperature of the plastic
compound is too low.
Distance between the lower
spindle and forming plunger is
excessive.
Channels for exhausting air from
the forming equipment are
clogged.
The springs of the lower spindles
give way.
Pellets are placed eccentrically
in relation to the caps.

MAINTENANCE
REMEDY
See the chapter that deals with
the INSERTION DRUM.
See the chapter that deals with
the INSERTION DRUM.
REMEDY
Increase the speed of the extruder
auger by entering a higher value
for parameter S22 from the
microprocessor system keyboard.
See the INSTRUCTIONS B
manual.
Increase the temperature set-points
for the extruder by using the
microprocessor system keyboard
to enter the new values for
parameters S1, S2, S3 and S4 (for
the reference values refer to the
data sheet provided by SACMI).

Restore the correct distance
between the lower spindle and the
forming plunger.
See the ADJUSTMENTS chapter.
Remove and clean the forming
equipment that is defective.
See the MAINTENANCE chapter.
Replace the springs for the lower
spindles.
Center the pellets in relation to the
caps.
See CAP ADJUSTMENTS.
