TROUBLESHOOTING

The faults which may be encountered have been grouped together according to the units that make up the machine.
8.3.1

TROUBLESHOOTING THE MACHINE

8.3.1.1
Insertion drum
PROBLEM
1
Cutting burrs: excessive compound
is produced and is deposited on the
machine and inside the caps.

Cutter loses the pellet.
3
Pellet is not placed in the cap.

CAUSE
Too much clearance between
the cutters and extruder nozzle.
The cutter is not suitable for the
compound being used.
Temperature of compound is
incorrect.
The size of the cutters and the
extruder nozzle is not adequate
for the type of compound used.
Deformed or ruined cutters.
There is too much space
between the plunger, when fully
down, and the bottom of the cap.
The blowers do not blow air at
the right pressure.

MAINTENANCE
REMEDY
Adjust the clearance between
the cutter and extruder nozzle.
See the ADJUSTMENTS chapter.
Replace the cutters (refer to the
data sheet provided by SACMI).
See the ADJUSTMENTS chapter.
Set the correct temperature by
using the microprocessor
system keyboard to enter the
new values for parameters S1,
S2, S3, S4 and S5 (for the
reference values refer to the data
sheet provided by SACMI). See
the INSTRUCTIONS B Manual.
Replace the cutters or nozzle
(for the reference values refer to
the data sheet provided by
SACMI).
See the ADJUSTMENTS chapter.
Replace the damaged cutters or
resharpen them.
See the MAINTENANCE chapter.
Correct the distance between
the plunger, when fully down,
and the bottom of the cap.
See the MAINTENANCE chapter.
Set the pressure at which air is
blown as required.
See the MAINTENANCE chapter.
