2 Safety Instructions

WARNING
Operating the product near active implanted systems
When operating the product, there is a risk of temporary influences of active, implantable systems (e.g. pace-
makers, defibrillators etc.) because of electromagnetic interference of the product.
à When operating the product in the immediate vicinity of active implantable systems, ensure that the
minimum distances stipulated by the manufacturer of the implant are observed.
à Make sure to observe any operating conditions and safety instructions stipulated by the manufacturer
of the implant.
CAUTION
Operator errors during the adjustment procedure. During the adjustment procedure, operator errors in
use of the adjustment software and resulting malfunction of the DynamicArm may occur. This can result in
a risk of injury to the patient.
Participation in an Ottobock product training course on the DynamicArm is obligatory before the first appli-
cation. During this product training course you will receive a password providing you access authorization
to the "ElbowSoft" adjustment software. To qualify for product updates, additional product training courses
may become necessary.
CAUTION
Manipulation of system components. Independent changes and/or modifications to system components
can lead to faulty control or malfunction of the DynamicArm, resulting in a risk of injury to the patient.
No adjustments or modifications except those described in this manual are authorised.
The DynamicArm may only be opened or repaired by certified Ottobock Myo-Service technicians.
Manipulation or replacement of the integrated DynamicArm battery is not allowed. The batteries may only be
serviced or replaced by certified Ottobock Myo-Service technicians.
NOTICE
Use of an incorrect AC adapter. Use of an incorrect AC adapter can lead to destruction of the product.
Use only the supplied AC adapter.
NOTICE
Chemical processes. Chemical processes can lead to cracks or other damage.
The DynamicArm must never be coated, pasted or lacquered.
NOTICE
Improper care. Use of solvents such as acetone, benzine or similar substances can cause the plastic to
become brittle.
Inform the patient that the DynamicArm is to be cleaned with a damp cloth and mild soap only.
CAUTION
Electrode settings. If electrode setting is not optimal it can lead to faulty control or malfunction of the Dy-
namicArm and result in a risk of injury to the patient.
• The electrodes should be placed on intact skin only and with as much electrode-skin contact as possible.
In the case of strong interferences from electric devices, the position of the electrodes should be verified
and, if need be, repositioned. If the interference cannot be eliminated or if you do not achieve the expected
results by adjustment and by selection of the appropriate control mode, please contact an Ottobock Myo-
Service facility.
