Telephone Line Monitoring
It is advisable to periodically check that the alarm panel can still contact the CMS. The Matrix alarm panel
provides a suitable function that allows the CMS to be test dialled periodically, see section 9. The panel also
monitors the telephone line and will generate a system fault if the line is removed, however the presence of a
line does not guarantee the ability to dial a CMS.
Walk Test
It is advisable to periodically check the functionality of all detectors, magnetic contacts and any other zone
sources to make sure that they are still working correctly. This can be achieved through use of the Walk test
function. The walk test function is described on page 100.
Date & Time
To make sure that the event log contains the correct time and date information, you should check that the
alarm panels date and time are correct. The LCD keypad normally displays the date and time when disarmed
(display not hidden). Use the user function VIEW TIME AND DATE to view the current time and date on all
other keypads.
Bell Box / Internal Sounders
To check that the internal and external sounders are operating correctly, you should use the Programmable
outputs test function described on page 100.
Maintenance Log
A maintenance log sheet is provided (see the next page), so that you can log maintenance calls. It is intended
that one log sheet is used per installation. Some sections need only be completed at initial installation time.

12.1 Scanning for Devices

When a device has been connected, you need to set the system to scan for devices, so that it can be
recognised. This is performed by entering BYWV whilst in Engineer's Mode.
