CHART 7102. ENGINE TROUBLESHOOTING
Cause
Defective ignition wire.
Defective spark plug
terminal connectors.
Leak in the induction system.
Throttle lever out of adjust-
ment.
Improper fuel flow.
Restriction in air scoop.
Improper fuel.
Faulty ignition.
Cracked engine mount.
Defective mounting bush-
ings.
Uneven compression.
Insufficient oil.
Air lock or dirt in relief
valve.
Leak in suction line or pres-
sure line.
Dirty oil strainer.
Defective pressure gauge.

Remedy
Check wire with electric
tester. Replace defective
wire.
Replace connectors on spark
plug wire.
Tighten all connections and
replace defective parts.
Adjust throttle lever.
Check strainer, gauge and
flow at fuel injector inlet.
Examine air scoop and re-
move restrictions.
Drain and refill tank with
recommended fuel.
Tighten all connections.
Check system with tester.
Check ignition timing.
Replace or repair mount.
Install new mounting bush-
ings.
Check compression.
Fill sump with recom-
mended oil.
Remove and clean oil pres-
sure relief valve.
Check gasket between acces-
sory housing and crankcase.
Remove and clean oil
strainers.
Replace gauge.
