Trouble
Gear stops part way up,
but pump continues to run.
All gears fail to free-fall.
Gear free-falls at airspeeds
above that required.
Landing gear fails to operate
at required speeds. (Gear up
at 103 KIAS for PA-28RT-
201T or 95 KIAS for
PA-28RT-201, gear down at
78 KIAS for PA-28RT-
201T or 75 KIAS
for PA-28RT-201.

Cause
Pump high pressure relief
valve out of adjustment.
Internal leakage of system.
Hydraulic fluid in reservoir
below operating level.
Back-up extension unit
valve fails to open.
Back-up extender unit
hydraulic valve fails to
close.
Manual control rod between
override lever (manual ex-
truder) and rear seat rub-
bing or chafing on spar web
where rod passes beneath
the spar.

Remedy
Replace pump.
Check back-up extension
unit valve for internal
leakage.
Check gear actuating
cylinders for internal
leakage.
Check for broken or
damaged hydraulic lines.
Fill reservoir with hydraulic
fluid.
Check unit and valve and
replace.
Check extender unit spring
adjustment.
Check hydraulic valve for
sticking open.
Check extender unit
diaphragm for damage.
Check for restriction in air
pressure and static lines.
Form the rod to allow clear-
ance through full fore and
aft travel.
