Trouble
Gauge inoperative.
Fluctuating reading.
CYLINDER HEAD TEMPERATURE GAUGE.
The cylinder head temperature gauge is in the instrument cluster on the instrument panel. This instrument
measures the cylinder head temperature using a sender located in a cylinder head. The head location is
determined by the engine manufacturer. It is an electrical instrument and is wired through the instruments
circuit breaker.

Defective gauge, probe or
wiring.
Adjusting potentiometer
turned off scale.
Loose, frayed or broken
electrical leads or faulty
connections.
Cause
Power supply wire broken.
Defective instrument.
Master switch off.
Wire broken between
sender and gauge.
Defective sender.

Remedy
Check probe and lead wires
for chafing, breaks or short-
ing between wires and/or
metal structure.
Reset potentiometer.
Clean and tighten con-
nections. Repair or replace
defective leads.
Remedy
Repair wire.
Replace instrument.
Repair wire.
Replace sender.
