Remedy
Remove battery. Connect
load such as landing light
lamp or similar load and dis-
charge battery. Recharge
with correct polarity and test
each cell for signs of damage
due to reversed charging.
—NOTE—
This type of condition can
only occur in a case where a
discharged battery has been
removed from the airplane
and put on a charger with the
polarity reversed. This re-
versal in polarity cannot
occur in the airplane due to
any fault in the alternator
system.
Check all connections and
wire terminals in field circuit
for deterioration such as
loose binding posts, broken
wire strands at terminals, etc.
Tighten all connections and
replace faulty terminals.
If problem persists, jump
across terminals of the fol-
lowing components one at a
time until the faulty unit is
isolated.
a. Field 5 amp (alternator)
circuit protector.
b. Alternator half of master
switch.
