CHART 2402. TROUBLESHOOTING (BATTERY)
Cause
Battery worn out.
Low electrical system
voltage.
Standing too long.
Equipment left on acci-
dentally.
Impurities in electrolyte.
Short circuit (ground) in
wiring.
Broken cell partitions.
Overcharge due to level of
electrolyte being below top
of plates.
Sulfation due to disuse.
Impurities in electrolyte.
Low charging rate.
Hold-down bracket
loose.
Frozen battery.
Charging rate too high.
Too much water added to
battery and charging rate
too high.

Remedy
Replace battery.
Check voltage regulator
voltage.
Remove and recharge battery
if left in unused airplane three
weeks or more.
Remove and recharge.
Replace.
Check wiring.
Replace.
Maintain electrolyte.
Replace.
Replace battery.
Check voltage regulator
voltage.
Replace battery and
tighten.
Replace.
Reduce charging rate. Check
voltage regulator voltage.
Drain and keep at proper
level and check voltage regu-
lator voltage.
