This chapter provides these pre-installation guidelines for the 3Com
VCX
V7000 Networked Telephony Systems.

This section describes sample hardware configurations that support VCX
V7000 systems. The capacity of each configuration is listed in terms of
how much activity it can support. Activity is rated on these factors:
Busy Hour Call Attempts (BHCA)

Non-voicemail accesses during busy times
■
Voicemail accesses during busy times
■
All hardware servers run the VCX Linux operating system. Definitions of
these hardware servers are contained in the 3Com price list.
The distribution of software server components over the hardware servers
depends on the system configuration.
A small branch office configuration supports:
200 telephone users
■
800 non-voicemail BHCA
■
35 simultaneous voicemail accesses at busy times
■
Each server in a pair of redundant servers runs this software with
database replication and mirroring (V7300 only) between the servers:
