    Passwords Files Passwords for local, non-IPMI users are stored in a standard Linux shadow-password file which enhances the security of the system. The hashed passwords are in a file that is not readable by users. Passwords for IPMI users are stored separately. The IPMI password file is not readable by users, but passwords are stored unencrypted because of limitations imposed by the IPMI authentication algorithms.
